Our residential summer camp program has ended and fall is upon us. I can’t help but think about how fast summer flew by! In a blink of an eye, we raced from our first session to our eighth, but along the way we had some amazing times. Our campers started each week maybe a little nervous, a touch shy, but by Friday that all changed. They grew a little stronger and more confident in who they are and what they can achieve. Maybe they finally took a ride down the zip line or hit their mark in archery. Shared some kisses with our furry friends or rode a horse. Reached the top of our climbing wall to ring the bell!
Each of our campers have a moment from Camp Korey that is the most precious moment to them, and that moment of joy, growth and healing is the moment we are strive to give the campers. It’s the reason our staff, board and supporters work so hard day in and day out to make Camp Korey a success. It’s so that at the end of each week, our campers leave empowered to take control of their future and be the best they can be.
Camp Korey doesn’t end in August. It doesn’t end on a Friday. Camp Korey is something our campers, volunteers, staff and visitors take home with them, take out into their community and share. It’s that feeling of being stronger, connected and joyful. I hope everyone had a ‘heartfull’ summer that they can share…I know I have.
