Reflection and Strategic Planning

As we approach Camp Korey’s 20th anniversary in 2025, we would like to share our plans to engage in a thoughtful assessment of core services. This period of reflection and strategic planning will ensure we continue to meet the needs of children living with complex medical conditions and families for the next 20 years. 

Since moving to our new home in Mount Vernon, we have embarked on many projects to make our camp more inclusive for campers of all abilities. From new camper housing to paving roadways and constructing a recreation center, these improvements have been essential in creating an accessible and inclusive environment. However, the challenges posed by the pandemic, such as project delays, supply chain disruptions causing an inflation in materials, and increased safety measures, have made these endeavors more financially demanding than expected. 

Here at Camp Korey, we view every challenge as an opportunity for growth and adaptation, so while we address these financial issues, we’ll also be completing a comprehensive assessment that will inform a multi-year strategic plan that will guide us into the future.  

Over the next 18 months, we will evaluate our offerings, survey stakeholders, and gather feedback directly from the families we serve. This includes not only continuing our post-visit surveys but also providing a forum for families to share additional needs and ideas for the future. By meeting with them and listening to their insights, we can evolve our programs to better meet their unique requirements, fostering a more supportive and inclusive environment for all. 

We are profoundly grateful for your continued support and contributions. Your partnership is vital as we build a strong foundation for the next chapter of our journey. Together, we will continue to create transformative experiences and lasting memories for our campers and their families.
