Pave the Way: Building Dreams for Kids with Life-Altering Medical Conditions

Every child deserves the opportunity to “just be a kid,” and Camp Korey has been committed to making this dream a reality for children with life-altering medical conditions for nearly two decades! One remarkable program, “Pave the Way,” is playing a pivotal role in ensuring these children have access to life-enriching experiences, provided at no cost to families. In this article, we’ll explore how Pave the Way is making a significant impact and how you can join in on this heartwarming journey of hope, resilience, and transformation.

Camp Korey: A Sanctuary of Joy

Camp Korey was established in 2005 by Tim Rose and his family, to create a safe and inclusive environment where children facing serious illnesses and life-altering medical conditions could come together to discover the healing power of laughter, play, and camaraderie. Camp Korey joined the SeriousFun Children’s Network in 2012, becoming one of 30 camps serving children from more than 50 countries.

Camp Korey’s experiences offer a break from the relentless challenges of medical treatments and hospital stays, allowing children to reclaim their childhoods, even if just for a little while. Activities range from horseback riding and arts and crafts to swimming and Silly-O, all adapted to accommodate varying abilities and medical needs. The impact of these camps extends far beyond the days spent here at camp, instilling confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging in each camper.

Pave the Way: Laying the Path to Hope

Camp Korey’s Pave the Way program acts as a bridge between compassionate individuals and the children and families who need their support. Its name signifies the program’s core mission – paving the way for children with life-altering medical conditions and their families to experience the magic of camp. But how does it work?

When you purchase a personalized brick, you help build the foundation for pathways, walls, or monuments within the campgrounds, creating a lasting testament to the generosity and compassion of supporters. Individuals and businesses alike can purchase bricks and have them inscribed with their names, messages of encouragement, or tributes to loved ones. These bricks not only contribute to the physical infrastructure of camp but also symbolize the strength and unity of the community supporting these children.
