Camp Korey is more than a camp.

It’s a place where kids with life-altering medical conditions can just be kids, entirely free of charge. We believe that all children should be able to experience both the joys of childhood and the profound, life-changing impact of camp. Every year, thousands of campers and family members gather in a community of people with shared experiences to sing, dance, laugh, grow, and discover their potential in a medically safe and adaptable environment.

Here, campers with 90+ diagnoses can take a true break from being “patients” and rediscover the joy of being a kid.

What we’re all about.

Ethvert barn fortjener muligheden for at “just be a kid,” and here at Camp Korey, we’re committed to making that a reality. That’s why our Family Weekends, Summer Camp sessions, Family Adventures, and retreats are 100% tilpasningsdygtig og 100% gratis for campister og familier.

Hvert år bringer Camp Korey glæde, fællesskab og nye eventyr til næsten 2.000 campister, der lever med livsændrende medicinske tilstande, og deres forældre, søskende og omsorgspersoner. Som et stolt medlem af SeriousFun Børnenes Netværk, Camp Korey is more than a camp, it’s a place where challenges transform into triumphs, and where the spirit of community and adventure thrives. Our programs not only bring smiles to the faces of our campers but also create a supportive network for families who are navigating life’s journey with resilience and hope.

Our dedicated medical care team ensures that Camp Korey’s medical center and pharmacy are staffed 24 hours a day by pediatric, specialty-specific physicians, registered nurses, and medical volunteers while camp is in session.

We provide comprehensive, individualized medical care for each of our campers. Our medical team collaborates with each family to make certain that all elements of their child’s care are planned for. We ensure that campers receive their medications discreetly. This way, they can focus on having fun and enjoy a sense of medical independence. Parents and caregivers can rest assured that their children are safe and will receive any necessary medical care while at camp.

Camp Korey is uniquely qualified to serve kids with one or more of 90+ serious medical diagnoses throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Camp Korey’s land acknowledgment.

We would like to acknowledge that the land we live and work on is the ancestral homeland of the Coast Salish peoples.
To acknowledge this land is to learn and recognize the lived history of Indigenous peoples, including the impact of colonialism and subsequent displacement, genocide, and erasure of Native communities and culture throughout our country’s history. Acknowledging Native land rights is a key connection to helping communities improve their health, lives, and continued culture.
We express our deepest respect and gratitude to our Indigenous neighbors for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.

Our Story

Camp Korey is named in honor of Korey Rose, a vibrant and compassionate teenager who lived with bone cancer and inspired all who knew him. Korey passed away at age eighteen, but the impact of his spirit lives on. In 2005, his father, Tim Rose, along with their family, founded Camp Korey to celebrate Korey’s legacy and create a place of joy, connection, and healing for children and families facing life-altering medical conditions.

Inspired by Paul Newman’s SeriousFun Children’s Network, which has been empowering kids with serious illnesses since 1988, Tim envisioned a space where young people in the Northwest could just be kids—laughing, exploring, and yes, even “raising a little hell.” Camp Korey began as a mobile, “on-the-road” program, traveling to reach families for its first three years. In June 2008, Camp Korey established a home in the City of Carnation, welcoming campers to its first two sessions just weeks later.

In 2016, Camp Korey expanded its mission by purchasing a 200-acre property in Mount Vernon, Washington, creating a space where more children and families could experience the transformational power of camp.
