Camp Korey is more than a camp.

It’s a place where kids with life-altering medical conditions can just be kids, entirely free of charge. We believe that all children should be able to experience both the joys of childhood and the profound, life-changing impact of camp. Every year, thousands of campers and family members gather in a community of people with shared experiences to sing, dance, laugh, grow, and discover their potential in a medically safe and adaptable environment.

Here, campers with 90+ diagnoses can take a true break from being “patients” and rediscover the joy of being a kid.

What we’re all about.

Every child deserves the opportunity to “just be a kid,” and here at Camp Korey, we’re committed to making that a reality. That’s why our Family Weekends, Summer Camp sessions, Family Adventures, and retreats are 100% adaptable and 100% free of charge for campers and families.

Each year, Camp Korey brings joy, community, and new adventures to nearly 2,000 campers living with life-altering medical conditions and their parents, siblings, and caregivers. As a proud member of the SeriousFun Children’s Network, Camp Korey is more than a camp, it’s a place where challenges transform into triumphs, and where the spirit of community and adventure thrives. Our programs not only bring smiles to the faces of our campers but also create a supportive network for families who are navigating life’s journey with resilience and hope.

Our dedicated medical care team ensures that Camp Korey’s medical center and pharmacy are staffed 24 hours a day by pediatric, specialty-specific physicians, registered nurses, and medical volunteers while camp is in session.

We provide comprehensive, individualized medical care for each of our campers. Our medical team collaborates with each family to make certain that all elements of their child’s care are planned for. We ensure that campers receive their medications discreetly. This way, they can focus on having fun and enjoy a sense of medical independence. Parents and caregivers can rest assured that their children are safe and will receive any necessary medical care while at camp.

Camp Korey is uniquely qualified to serve kids with one or more of 90+ serious medical diagnoses throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Camp Korey’s land acknowledgment.

We would like to acknowledge that the land we live and work on is the ancestral homeland of the Coast Salish peoples.
To acknowledge this land is to learn and recognize the lived history of Indigenous peoples, including the impact of colonialism and subsequent displacement, genocide, and erasure of Native communities and culture throughout our country’s history. Acknowledging Native land rights is a key connection to helping communities improve their health, lives, and continued culture.
We express our deepest respect and gratitude to our Indigenous neighbors for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.

Our Story

Camp Korey is named for Korey Rose, a vivacious teen who lost his battle with bone cancer at age eighteen (2004). His father, Tim Rose, founded Camp Korey in 2005 with his family to honor Korey’s memory and create a haven for other families dealing with childhood illness and serious medical conditions. Paul Newman’s SeriousFun Camps, which he established in 1988, inspired Tim to extend the privilege of “raising a little hell” to kids in the Northwest.

Camp Korey operated as an “on-the-road” program for three years before moving to the City of Carnation in June 2008 and launching its first two camper sessions just two weeks later.

In 2012, Camp Korey became an official member of SeriousFun Children’s Network, founded by Paul Newman. Together, we provide children living with serious illnesses with a spectacular camp experience and high-quality medical care, all in the safest and most supportive environment. And for the kids, it’s high-flying, friendship-building, memory-making fun.

In the summer of 2016, Camp Korey purchased a 200-acre property in Mount Vernon with plans to expand the conditions and numbers served.
