Hi! I’m Dan Worra, and I could not be more excited to be Camp Korey’s new CEO. When I first heard about Camp Korey, I knew I wanted to be a part of the team, and as I learned more, I knew this was the place for me. I love being with kids; how could you not be thrilled to be a part of the team creating empowering, adaptive year-round programs for children dealing with life-altering medical conditions and their families, completely free of charge?
I appreciate what Camp Korey and Skagit County have to offer, and I work hard to promote a positive workplace environment. My mantra is “mission, family, work hard, have fun.” I believe in strength through diversity – workplace diversity, community diversity, and national diversity. Quite simply, “we all have different strengths, and through communication and understanding, we can accomplish great things.”
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and taking advantage of many of the great opportunities the Northwest has to offer, including boating in the San Juan Islands, skiing in the Cascades, hiking throughout our community forestlands, and the occasional round of golf.

I’ve been immersed in the construction industry, specializing as a union Carpenter, for more than 20 years. I’m a proud father to a 6-year-old daughter who brings me endless joy and I share my home with a feline friend named Katlynn, affectionately known as “Kat”.
Education is a lifelong pursuit for me – I’ve earned three degrees with honors and am currently wrapping up my fourth. I truly epitomize the ethos of a “Lifetime Learner”. I’m passionate about heart-happy work, which is why I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Camp Korey. Together, we’re dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of kids and their families.

Je viens de nombreuses années (pas besoin de chiffrer) d'expériences de camp et de bénévolat, et je crois tellement en l'expérience incroyablement transformatrice que le camp a pour tous !
Dans mon rôle de responsable de l'engagement communautaire, j'ai le privilège d'aller dans la communauté et de partager un petit aperçu des choses incroyables qui se produisent ici au Camp Korey. Je parle à des clubs de service, je partage avec divers groupes, je réseaute, je participe à des événements, je planifie et mets en place de grands groupes de bénévoles d'entreprise et, en général, je deviens une pom-pom girl et une conteuse de la beauté que les expériences de camp offrent aux campeurs, aux familles, au personnel et bénévoles! Vous êtes tous officiellement invités à venir au Camp Korey, à visiter le site et à en savoir plus ! 10. Marguerites ! Ils sont ma fleur préférée. J'aime la gaieté lumineuse des pâquerettes. Et fait amusant… c'est mon "nom de camp" et j'y répondrai !
9. Je pense que les spectacles de marionnettes pourraient être parmi les choses les plus drôles de l'histoire du monde !
8. J'adore les mascottes ! Dinger, le Bellinghamster pour les cloches occupe une place très spéciale dans mon cœur !
7. Pour moi, il n'y a rien de plus beau que le pouvoir de la musique live. Un groupe d'étrangers se réunissant pour entendre l'histoire d'une chanson qu'ils expérimentent tous individuellement ensemble.

1. Le camp occupe une place très spéciale dans mon cœur. J'ai eu le privilège de travailler dans 4 camps d'été différents. J'ai commencé comme conseiller en 1997 et… le reste appartient à l'histoire. Cet été-là a été le premier été où j'ai vraiment compris qui j'étais et ce que j'étais censé faire dans ce monde. Je m'efforce de le faire depuis. Le camp est un endroit où nous arrivons vraiment à être nous-mêmes. C'est un endroit sûr pour échouer, apprendre, grandir, aimer et explorer. C'est un endroit pour accueillir nos insécurités et embrasser notre besoin de communauté. C'est un endroit où les heures sont longues, les douches sont rares, nos cheveux sentent le feu de camp, les chansons de camp sont chantées en boucle, les premières étoiles au crépuscule brillent plus fort au fur et à mesure que les conversations s'approfondissent, et c'est un endroit où toute la vie les amitiés se solidifient au fil des blagues intérieures sans fin et des moments qui ne peuvent jamais se répéter. Le camp est un endroit auquel nous appartenons tous.

Hello! I’m Elicia Giffin, the new Director of Camp Experience for Camp Korey! Growing up, summer camp was my highlight and place where I felt most myself, and in 3rd grade, I told my dad I wanted to go to college so that I could work at camp and here I am achieving that dream! As Director of Camp Experience, my days at camp are spent supporting our Culinary, Facilities, Medical, and Program Teams to deliver kids and families a fantastic experience at Camp Korey.

Hey there, I’m Christy Lyman, the Director of Communications for Camp Korey.
My days at camp are a colorful mix of weaving compelling stories, generating innovative content, and designing materials that foster the connection between camp and our community. My mission? To make sure every family with the potential to benefit from camp knows about all the resources and experiences we offer.
My two best friends are the Oxford comma and a good play on words. You might say I’m pun-stoppable. After all, why use plain language when you can sprinkle a bit of pun-shine on it?
Shannon Staples, M.D.

Hi, my name is Shannon Staples. I am the Medical Director at Camp Korey. I am a Pediatrician who is in charge of the medical care and safety of campers, staff, and volunteers. I am also an Emergency Department physician at Seattle Children’s Hospital for the past 22 years. Being the medical director at CK has been the most rewarding job full of adventure and soul-fulfilling work. I became the medical director after being a volunteer doctor for many years.
I pride myself in creating a fun, exciting, and safe camp experience for all. We have been able to accept more and more medically complex children and expand our condition groups over the last 6 years that I have been at CK. I love working with the programming team to provide innovative activities for our campers and families that help build community both in and outside of camp.
I have lived in Seattle since 2001 but am originally from Atlanta. I went to UW and returned to the south for med school but the entire time I was gone, I was planning for my return to the PNW. I have twin 19-year-old children who have been coming with me to camp for years in different capacities since they were 7. I love to be outside (which is why camp is so amazing in the summer), ski in the winter, and kayak and swim in the summer. Travel is another passion of mine and I am obsessed with Maui and the whales.

Howdy, I’m Kyle and I do the numbers for camp. I oversee our accounting operations and ensure that camp is a good steward of your donations.
Working at camp is such a rewarding experience and nothing brings me more joy than the sound of campers arriving.
Outside of camp, I enjoy hiking ⛰️ the Mariners ⚾️ Animal Collective 🐼, and Jamie Taco 🌮.

Salut! Je suis Asha Broetje Bairstow, la coordinatrice des admissions au Camp Korey.
Dans mon rôle, j'ai le privilège de travailler très étroitement avec les familles et les campeurs, étant l'une des premières personnes avec lesquelles ils interagissent dans le processus de leur adhésion à notre famille de camp. Je les accompagne tout au long du processus de candidature et fais de mon mieux pour le rendre aussi fluide et sans stress que possible, malgré les formulaires apparemment sans fin que je peux leur demander ! 😊
En tant que coordonnatrice des admissions, j'espère aider les formalités qui constituent le processus de demande à se dérouler le mieux possible, afin que les familles puissent passer à autre chose et profiter de la magie de notre camp ! J'ai eu le privilège de développer des liens avec des dizaines de nouvelles familles et de les aider à démarrer leur voyage de camp, et j'espère continuer à le faire pendant un certain temps !
Dans mes temps libres, mon chiot Wally et moi aimons nous aventurer sur les sentiers de randonnée, ainsi que nous blottir ensemble sur le canapé pendant que je lis un bon livre !

Bonjour! Je m'appelle Ashley et je suis la directrice culinaire du Camp Korey, responsable des aspects du service des repas au camp.
J'ai commencé à travailler avec le Camp Korey à l'été 2021 en tant que membre du personnel de cuisine à temps partiel et je suis passé à mon rôle à temps plein en janvier 2023. Enfant, j'ai participé au camp d'été pendant 6 étés et je suis tombé amoureux de la culture du camp et l'esprit "libre d'être moi" du camp. En tant qu'adulte, je suis membre du personnel du camp de bout en bout, passant du temps dans 4 camps différents en essayant divers rôles avant d'atterrir au Camp St. Albans, un camp de scouts de l'État de Washington; où j'ai été directeur culinaire pendant 9 étés.
J'ai toujours eu une passion pour la cuisine et j'aime la façon dont la nourriture peut rassembler tout le monde, peu importe à quel point ils semblent différents. J'aime l'agitation d'une cuisine de camp animée et la récompense de passer du temps avec des campeurs heureux et pleins de ventre. Certains de mes plats préférés à préparer au camp sont la pizza, les pâtes, les biscuits aux pépites de chocolat et, bien sûr, le fromage grillé classique avec une soupe aux tomates maison.

Polly Hopkins
Major Gifts Officer
Hello! I’m Polly Hopkins and I’m delighted to be Camp Korey’s Major Gifts Officer. My role is to connect philanthropically minded people with the opportunity to help camp grow and thrive, increasing the number of children and families we can welcome.
As a child, attending summer camp in the redwoods of northern California was a life-changing experience for me. It was a place that modeled independence, self-esteem, teamwork, and love of nature. Camp Korey provides these lessons for our campers and families completely free of charge. For those who can’t attend in person, our Camp to You program offers children individualized experiences focused on having fun and taking a moment to step outside of their daily concerns.
In my spare time, you will find me snuggling my rescue kitty, gardening, reading, walking, and swimming in the Salish Sea.

I was born and raised in Mount Vernon, WA, and currently live on the west side with my family. In my free time, I enjoy tinkering with old cars and throwing pottery on the wheel.

Hello! My name is Malon Kelly, and I am a part of the Communications Team here at Camp Korey. My role is dedicated to assisting our wonderful Communications Director, Christy Lyman, with telling the stories of camp and developing engaging content to share our stories with the community.
Through my background in community organizing around healthcare access and workers’ rights, I fell in love with the power of storytelling. It was this love that led me to transition my career to communications about five years ago. My mission throughout my career has always been to break down barriers and support communities through creativity and joy.
In my after-work life, I am a surrealist painter and share my home with two cats named after great artists, Edgar Allen Paw and Marguerite Purrr-ard. I get immense joy from cooking for people that I love and am always down for a craft or board game night!

Je m'appelle Paige et je suis la responsable des bénévoles au Camp Korey !
J'ai commencé mon implication avec Camp Korey en 2008 (quand j'avais 17 ans). J'ai été bénévole, membre du personnel d'été et stagiaire pour devenir maintenant gestionnaire de bénévoles à temps plein. C'est vraiment un moment où la boucle est bouclée pour commencer en tant que bénévole, et maintenant être en mesure de recruter et de soutenir tant de bénévoles incroyables, et de voir le camp changer leur vie ! En plus de recruter et de soutenir des bénévoles, je fais beaucoup de travail administratif, comme m'assurer que j'ai tous les documents dont j'ai besoin de la part des bénévoles, ainsi que collecter tous les nombres et heures de bénévoles à des fins de données. 😊
J'ai vécu dans l'État de Washington toute ma vie. Je suis diplômé de l'Université Western Washington avec un baccalauréat en loisirs thérapeutiques et une mineure en psychologie. J'adore jouer/regarder des sports (en particulier le football), danser, faire des puzzles et des jeux de mots/chiffres, essayer de nouveaux restaurants et passer le plus de temps possible avec mes amis et ma famille !

Bonjour, je m'appelle Abby et je suis la coordinatrice du Camp to You !
Je suis tellement excitée d'apporter un morceau du Camp Korey dans nos hôpitaux locaux. Mon objectif est d'honorer le courage, la créativité et la résilience de tous nos campeurs. J'ai eu la chance de passer deux étés incroyables au sein de notre équipe de personnel saisonnier avant de monter à bord à temps plein.
Je suis mon temps libre, j'aime faire n'importe quoi à l'extérieur, y compris le ski, la randonnée, la natation et le kayak. J'aime aussi toutes sortes de projets d'art et d'artisanat, en particulier le tricot, le scrapbooking et la peinture.

Hello, I’m Brandon Mock, the Cabin Life Coordinator at Camp Korey.
My job at camp is to help support our seasonal cabin life team in providing the best care and support to our campers as possible. My goal at camp is to provide an environment where every camper, volunteer, and staff member feels safe and cared for so that they can best experience the magic of camp.
Outside of camp, I am working on writing my dissertation for a Ph.D. in Health Communication and studying how we make sense of health through language, and how our understanding of health influences how we build health systems and health policy.

Christa grew up in Snohomish County, lived in Seattle and in New York City, then made her way back to the PNW to be closer to family, (especially her sister’s kiddos, who she ADORES!). She joined Camp Korey staff in April 2020 and her joy and enthusiasm drives our corporate partners to be inspired to support the wonderful impact on campers and their families. In summertime, if she’s not a camp you can find Christa helping out at the family blueberry farm, or somewhere by the water.

Bonjour, je m'appelle Nikki Rossiter et je suis la responsable des subventions du Camp Korey. J'adore raconter aux fondations et aux autres bailleurs de fonds pourquoi le Camp Korey est un endroit si spécial et comment ils peuvent nous aider avec notre incroyable mission. J'aime aussi beaucoup les systèmes, les données et les trucs techniques. J'aime trouver des moyens d'aider notre équipe à mieux travailler ensemble en utilisant les outils logiciels dont nous disposons déjà.
Après le travail, vous pouvez généralement me trouver en train de passer du temps à la maison avec mon merveilleux mari et mon chien à trois pattes pas si grand qu'Amber. Les choses préférées d'Amber sont de se blottir sur mes genoux, enveloppée dans ma grande et douce couverture, et d'aboyer sa tête au chauffeur de FedEx. 💗😂💗

Hi, my name is Scott, and I love hosting guest groups, recruiting and connecting with camp operations volunteers, and sharing our Camp Korey stories in the community.
Working collaboratively behind the scenes to connect people with transformational spaces and service experiences is my jam!
I live just 20 minutes away in Arlington with my wife Nikki. When we’re not at camp we enjoy day trips to explore the many small historic seaside towns, antique stores, and roadside stands found across our state.

Hi, I’m Matt.
I am responsible for the cleanliness of camp both inside and out, and performing maintenance work on campus.
I have worked in sales and culinary fields in the past, and I am a Veteran of Desert Storm. I had the opportunity to travel around the world, and I have walked on every continent and visited 32 countries and all but 6 states in the US.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, biking, and running.
Jen Shaw

Bonjour, je suis Jen Shaw, directrice des soins infirmiers au Camp Korey.
J'ai été infirmière en pédiatrie pendant 17 ans et avant de venir au Camp Korey à plein temps, j'étais infirmière en soins intensifs et infirmière RISK à Seattle Children's. Je travaille toujours à la journée au Seattle Children's dans le département des soins d'urgence et j'adore voir les campeurs lorsqu'ils doivent se rendre à l'hôpital. Je suis également instructeur en soins infirmiers et j'enseigne le PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
Mon mari et moi partageons 6 enfants et un petit-enfant et une de nos filles est également campeuse. Mes deux chiens Leo et Shadow vivent au camp avec moi tout l'été et de nombreux campeurs sont ravis de revenir et de voir les chiens pendant qu'ils sont au camp.
Dans mes temps libres, ma famille et moi aimons faire de la randonnée, de la raquette, camper, faire du vélo, jouer à des jeux ensemble et voyager.
Courtney Smith

Hey there! I’m Kortney Smith and I am the Camp Director (Programs).
My journey with Camp Korey began as a camper in 2009. Growing up with the shadow of a diagnosis can be really hard. But I was raised to believe that my medical condition gave me something other kids didn’t have – a unique perspective on life, a superpower.
One reason why I love my job so much is because I can encourage more people to share that perspective. I can help others recognize their superpowers and use them to better the world. Since my time as a camper, I have worn many hats, with my new favorite being Camp Director!
Around camp, you will see me planning, preparing, and executing all things programs, activities, and fun! I also supervise and support an amazing team of seasonal staff who have the uncanny ability to turn traditional activities into uproarious spectacles. At this camp, fun is not just an option – it’s a mandatory skill.
Outside of camp, my time is spent taking up new hobbies, practicing new skills, and learning what it means to be a new mom.
Shannon Staples, M.D.

Hi, my name is Shannon Staples. I am the Medical Director at Camp Korey. I am a Pediatrician who is in charge of the medical care and safety of campers, staff, and volunteers. I am also an Emergency Department physician at Seattle Children’s Hospital for the past 22 years. Being the medical director at CK has been the most rewarding job full of adventure and soul-fulfilling work. I became the medical director after being a volunteer doctor for many years.
I pride myself in creating a fun, exciting, and safe camp experience for all. We have been able to accept more and more medically complex children and expand our condition groups over the last 6 years that I have been at CK. I love working with the programming team to provide innovative activities for our campers and families that help build community both in and outside of camp.
I have lived in Seattle since 2001 but am originally from Atlanta. I went to UW and returned to the south for med school but the entire time I was gone, I was planning for my return to the PNW. I have twin 19-year-old children who have been coming with me to camp for years in different capacities since they were 7. I love to be outside (which is why camp is so amazing in the summer), ski in the winter, and kayak and swim in the summer. Travel is another passion of mine and I am obsessed with Maui and the whales.
Larkin Starkovitch

Hi! My name is Larkin Starkovich I am the maintenance lead. I do a little bit of everything from ditch digging to vehicle maintenance and repairs. So, our campers and families can have a wonderful experience at Camp Korey.
As for me, I enjoy going camping and fishing as much as possible. Go, Camp Korey!!!

Howdy, I’m Kyle and I do the numbers for camp. I oversee our accounting operations and ensure that camp is a good steward of your donations.
Working at camp is such a rewarding experience and nothing brings me more joy than the sound of campers arriving.
Outside of camp, I enjoy hiking ⛰️ the Mariners ⚾️ Animal Collective 🐼, and Jamie Taco 🌮.
