Volunteer with us and join a community.

A caring, supportive, and compassionate community that comes together to enrich the lives of our campers and their families.

Camp Korey relies on the kindness of hundreds of volunteers every year to carry out our mission of bringing joy to children with life-altering medical conditions. Each year, our community of program, medical, corporate, and at-home volunteers generously give thousands of hours to make the wishes of our campers a reality. You can commit to a day, full session, or any time during the off-season.

Facilities + Maintenance. Are you more of a hands-on volunteer? The backbone of our camp, these volunteers will work hand in hand with our Facilities Manager in groundskeeping, camp preparation, organization, and specialty projects. Volunteers in this role are crucial to the maintenance and running of camp. Projects may include painting, carpentry, welding, plumbing, forestry, electric/wiring, landscaping, housekeeping, and gardening.

Office + Administration. If your skillset favors office and administrative duties, we can find a department that aligns with your strengths and find meaningful tasks for you.

Event Volunteers. Help us spread the word about camp by volunteering to staff an event. You’ll serve as a champion for our cause and help make magic at our community events. We host several events each year, and to make them happen, we need lots of volunteers to coordinate details ahead of time and work at the actual events too. Positions may include set-up/clean-up assistance, greeting guests, registration/check-in, auction item stager, hospitality support, station attendant, event lead support, assistant to the camp staff, event administrative assistance, and event photography.

For all roles, you will create a CampSite account (or log into the account you already have if you are a returning volunteer) and read the message on the Homepage dashboard to find the link to the volunteer application.

This is the first step of the application process and once submitted, you will receive a follow-up e-mail with the next steps of the process.

The volunteer contract is contingent upon the full completion of the following:

  • Criminal and national sex offender registry background checks
  • Agreements and Policies – requires signed acknowledgment of our policies and agreements
  • Mandatory attendance at volunteer orientation
  • Covid 19 Vaccination

Camp Korey is committed to inclusion and that includes creating opportunities for you to help make a difference in your community wherever you are! Camp Korey is offering volunteers Camp At-Home projects, created to provide opportunities for volunteers of all ages to make a difference and help! Gather your scout troops, students, friends, family, and/or colleagues, and together create camp magic for our campers from the convenience of your home or office.

  • Warm Fuzzies for Campers Warm Fuzzies, which each camper takes home at the end of camp, are sewn to a pre-made pattern. This ensures all fuzzies are consistent in size and shape. The children we serve often have severe allergies and sensitivities, which limits our use of supplies to only new fabric that is machine washable.
  • Pillowcases Colorful and fun pillowcases, all provided by volunteers, create a homey atmosphere for campers when they arrive at camp – as well as a reminder of camp memories when they take their pillowcases home! Pick out some fun (and appropriate) fabric that you like! Many people use one fabric for the main part of the pillowcase and another for the trim at the end. Check out an easy how-to video here.
  • Camper Quilts Please feel free to be creative! We need patchwork quilts to decorate every twin-sized bed in our cabins. The size of the quilt should be 60 inches wide by 80 inches long. Please make sure these quilts are machine washable and are not too heavy or warm.
  • Warm Fuzzy Notes “Warm Fuzzy Notes” are Camp Korey’s way of sending positive, uplifting messages to every camper, volunteer, and staff member throughout the year. (Learn a little more about the importance of Warm Fuzzies here.)

We are looking for volunteers to help create “pre-made” warm fuzzies. This would mean cutting paper into nice sizes for writing notes (the shapes can be creative and different!). Some can be plain, while others could be decorated with fun stickers or drawings. These are great to have on hand to provide campers as staff and volunteers are always busy during a week of summer camp.

  • Create Word Search Booklets Create your own original themed word search booklets! Create your own word searches and/or find pre-made puzzles online to print and put together.
  • Create Coloring Books Find coloring book pictures online (any picture that is an outline can become a coloring page to be filled in!) and add a fun cover page!
  • Rock Painting Find some small rocks and paint them for us to distribute throughout camp – this makes walking around the property more fun and exciting!
  • Friendship Bracelets Create friendship bracelets we can give to campers – both at camp, through the mail, or at hospitals! You can click here for tutorials on some of the main types of friendship bracelets or make your favorite style.

We welcome all kinds of civic, corporate, and friends/family groups. Reach out to our Community Engagement Manager, Nichol Ellis at nellis@campkorey.org to see how we can best utilize your skills and pair you with a project you’ll enjoy.
